This is a series where I write lesson(s) learned during the day, so that I remember them better. Hopefully you take away something too!

Made french toast today. Just went with only some white granulated cane sugar and salt for the egg batter, and a whole wheat bread. As for other toppings, I added some sliced green peppers, and tried to add turmeric on one of the slices.

Had a hard time getting the green peppers to stick to the bread though. I think I'll try thinner slices as well as pressing them with my hand into the bread harder next time.

Turmeric tasted good, only problem was that my covering was not even since I sprinkled it directly onto one of the pieces of toast, didn't want to ruin in the entire batter in case it didn't work out. Next time I'll just add it directly to the batter.

I also have to remember to slice the bread into triangles next time, I think that would help increase surface area for egg batter to soak into the bread. I should experiment with extending that concept and slicing the bread into thinner and thinner pieces, if I take a look at the average penetration of the egg batter into the bread I can estimate what the optimum size is for maximum egg batter absorption.

Also, I didn't know that french toast soaked up so much oil. Next time I'll add just enough to get a thinner film over the pan.
