Deliberate Practice #15 2022-07-24

This is a series where I write lesson(s) learned during the day, so that I remember them better. Hopefully you take away something too!

While I was waiting today, I sat at a park and just stared at a fountain and the surrounding grasses. I realized that contrary to perception, the water on the fountain was gray in this case, and the grass, due to the strong sunlight, actually had quite a bit of the blades look white instead. I've never done this sort of meditation before, where I really sit and think about what something actually looks like versus what it looks like in my mind. Before this, I would've drawn the fountain as blue and the grass as all just green, but now I know that the variability in color is actually quite different. I think to relax and focus I'm going to try more of this.
